Myth 2: The process of egg freezing is easy
From a doctor’s point of view, the process is relatively easy
From a doctor’s point of view, arranging and performing an egg freezing treatment cycle is relatively easy, but many of my patients tell me certain elements of treatment can be stressful.
At Women’s Health Melbourne I have identified and targeted the pain points of egg freezing treatment, making the process easier for my patients.
Planning your cycle:
A lot of more traditional IVF clinics require and egg freezing patient to schedule a cycle around her menstrual period. This can be unpredictable, impractical and may not fit in with a woman’ schedule or ideal time to freeze her eggs. At Women’s Health Melbourne we support both follicular phase and random start egg freeze treatment options. This allows our patients to choose the timing of their medication treatment and planned egg collection.
Giving yourself injections:
It is hard for some people to be able to self administer injected medication. This can be a big psychological hurdle. Reassuringly most women overcome initial nervousness and cope well. Medications given during egg freezing treatments are time specific and any errors in their administration can result in unintended ovulation. A woman freezing her eggs is on a schedule. She must be on top of her injections, plan and attend treatment monitoring appointments around her normal work load, and arrange time off for her egg collection procedure and recovery. This is all totally do-able for most women, but I wouldn’t describe it as easy.
At Women’s health Melbourne we prescribe medications with care, minimising the number of unnecessary needles, with out holistic multidisciplinary team supporting you during your egg freezing treatment.
